Arsenal transfer interest explained after Gunners send scouts to watch player

Arsenal are interested in Heidenheim goalkeeper Diant Ramaj, as a long-term replacement for either David Raya or Kepa Arrizabalaga.

That’s according to journalist Christian Falk on SportBILD. He’s insisted that Ramaj is very much on Arsenal’s transfer list.

A report earlier this month insisted that Arsenal were keeping an eye on the goalkeeper. He’s currently on loan at Heidenheim from Borussia Dortmund.

The report stated that Ramaj had been spotted several times by Arsenal scouts this season and they had recently sent officials to watch over him in particular. It was claimed they were eyeing him as a potential back up to David Raya.

That role is currently filled by Kepa Arrizabalaga. He was signed in a low-cost deal from Chelsea in the summer after a successful season on loan at Bournemouth.

He is 31 years old, though, while Raya is 30 years old, so Arsenal will need to think about their future options at some point. And according to Falk it is precisely because of that why they are looking at Ramaj so closely. In comparison, he is 24 years old.

“Yes, that’s true, Ramaj is on Arsenal’s list,” the journalist told the True or Not True segment on BILD’s podcast.

“The Heidenheim goalkeeper is actually only on loan from Dortmund, so they (Arsenal) would have to sit down with them.

“He came in February 2025 for over €5m from Ajax, has a contract until 2029, and yeah, at 24 he’s a good age.

Of course, it must be said that Arsenal has a good goalkeeper: David Raya, he’s the number 1. So, we’re talking more about a backup. There’s also Kepa Arrizabalaga, who’s already 31, and both have contracts until 2028.

“So it would be more of a forward-looking option, but certainly an interesting club for Ramaj.”
