Liverpool recorded back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since September with victory over nine-man Tottenham on Saturday evening.

From the moment Xavi Simons was sent-off for a reckless tackle on Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk in the first-half, Spurs were left with a massive mountain to climb and their resistance was broken early in the second half.

Alexander Isak, brought on at the break, took advantage of a poor pass from Cristian Romero to break the deadlock with a fine finish.

However, Isak was not able to celebrate his second Premier League goal of the season as he took a whack from Micky van de Ven while shooting and had to be substituted straight after.

After Randal Kolo Muani had nearly equalised for Spurs, Hugo Ekitike got above Romero to head home a second for Liverpool and score his fifth goal in three league appearances.

Richarlison set up a nervy finale, scoring minutes after his introduction but Romero’s dismissal for a second yellow card ended Spurs’ hopes of snatching an unlikely equaliser.
