On Saturday night, the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons will face off in a battle of highly-touted young guards.
How to Watch Charlotte Hornets vs. Detroit Pistons
The Pistons have been one of the NBA's best stories this season, leading the Eastern Conference with a 21-6 record, which is the second-best record in the NBA. The Pistons have slowed down a bit of late, however, as the team is 6-4 in its last 10, including a most recent defeat to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.
In the loss, Detroit was led by former No. 1 overall draft pick Cade Cunningham, who had 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists, as well as one block. Blossoming young center Jalen Duren also had a solid performance, scoring 17 points to go with 13 rebounds. That guard-big tandem has been one of the league's best this season, and will be the building blocks of Detroit's seemingly bright future.
The Hornets, meanwhile, have endured more of the same this campaign, sitting at 9-18 and out of a playoff spot. Even so, Charlotte has won its last two outings, including most recently having defeated the Atlanta Hawks 133-126 behind 28 points and 13 assists from LaMelo Ball, and 26 points, five rebounds, and eight assists from Brandon Miller. Former Duke standout Kon Knuueppel also had another big outing, scoring 28 points to go with seven assists.
Don't look now, but Charlotte may be building a solid young core right beneath our noses.
