Tottenham have expressed a shock interest in signing Manchester City forward in the upcoming January transfer window.
The January transfer window is fast approaching, as Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank looks to add to his squad for the second half of the season.
One of the major issues the Lilywhites have faced is a lack of a focal point in the attack, with Dominic Solanke barely playing this season and continuing to be out on the sidelines. Richarlison has led the Tottenham attack in Solanke’s injury absence, and while he has been decent, there is a clear need for an upgrade if Thomas Frank and Co. are to evolve as a unit.
Another area of concern has been the left flank, with none of Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson or Randal Kolo Muani managing to make that position their own. Son Heung-min’s departure in August has left a big void that Spurs must fill, and that is likely why Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo has emerged as a prime target for the winter window.
Antoine Semenyo, who has enjoyed a fantastic 2025/26 campaign thus far, is available via a £65million release clause triggering on January 1 until January 10. But, being a highly coveted commodity, Spurs face intense competition from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea for his signature.

With Man City firmly interested in Semenyo, it looks like Tottenham are planning to line up alternative targets for the Bournemouth star. Perhaps, this has seen them set their sights on a Man City forward.
According to Man City insider The Real Tolmie’s Hairdoo on X, Tottenham are looking at Omar Marmoush as a potential option to bolster their attacking unit. He also revealed in another tweet that Man City’s CEO Ferran Soriano would potentially listen to bids for the African star if the Sky Blues are able to seal the deal for Semenyo.
Omar Marmoush has endured a slow start to the 2025/26 season. He sustained a knee injury on international duty in September, which led to the forward missing seven games for City. The Egypt international is yet to score in the 10 Premier League appearances so far this season and continues to find himself behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order.
Although injuries have kept him out of the starting XI, Marmoush doesn’t look like he would feature in Guardiola’s starting XI even when fully fit, and might already be getting the Julian Alvarez treatment.
Erling Haaland’s excellent form up front has rightly kept Marmoush on the periphery. However, the 26-year-old, who has teamed up with the Egypt national team for the upcoming AFCON in Morocco, demonstrated what he is capable of doing in the Premier League last season when he scored seven goals in 16 outings after arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt in January. Marmoush’s highlight at City so far has been the hat-trick he netted against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium last term.

Marmoush could solve two problems at Tottenham
Tottenham have a serious interest in Semenyo, but their pivot to Marmoush apparently shows the Bournemouth star is unattainable. Meanwhile, Marmoush could solve two problems if he arrives at Spurs.
Primarily a centre-forward, the Egyptian can compete with Richarlison and eventually succeed him. At least, in terms of fitness, he will be an upgrade on both Richarlison and Solanke and can be relied upon for a regular source of goals. Plus, the ex-Frankfurt man is more than capable of operating in a wide left role, and he may end up filling the void created by Son in the squad.
All in all, Marmoush would be a top acquisition, but it remains to be seen whether he is willing to even leave City in the January transfer window.
