Mikel Arteta gives his verdict on Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium after Arsenal win

Everton were competitive but ultimately fell to a 1-0 defeat to the league leaders Arsenal last night.

A Jake O’Brien error gave Arsenal the lead as Viktor Gyokeres converted from the resulting penalty in the first half.

Speaking exclusively to Everton News, Mark Clattenburg suggested Everton could’ve had their own penalty when Thierno Barry was kicked by William Saliba.

So, Everton were unfortunate not to come away with a point and Bukayo Saka admitted it was really tough playing at the Toffees’ new stadium.

Mikel Arteta also mentioned the Hill Dickinson Stadium in his post-match press conference.

Mikel Arteta in awe of Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium

Speaking to the media post-match, Arteta had a message for Everton as he congratulated the club for the truly ‘amazing’ stadium.

“Before I finish I just want to congratulate everyone at Everton Football Club for this amazing stadium,” the Arsenal manager explained.

“It’s got everything the atmosphere they created. As an ex player and someone who still supports this club congratulations to all of them”

Gary Lineker was also blown away by the Hill Dickinson Stadium when he visited it for the first time earlier this month.

Lineker noted how good the atmosphere was, too: “I went up with my mate JD and it was brilliant, what a stadium… honestly it’s amazing and the acoustics inside… they’ve obviously done some work for the sound and it was jumping in there.”

Everton remain in the top 10 for Christmas for the first time in years

Despite consecutive defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal, Everton still remain in the top 10 of the Premier League table heading into Christmas.

The last time they were in the top half at this point in the season was under Carlo Ancelotti in the 2020/21 season.

So clearly Moyes’ side are making progress and now have a winnable run of fixtures coming up heading into the new year.

Last night once again proved that they will need to sign a prolific striker in January if they’re to bridge the gap between mid-table and the European spots.

Moyes is exploring a number of deals, with Roma’s Artem Dovbyk popping up as a new name over the last week.
