David Moyes reflected on a 1-0 loss for **Everton**against Arsenal.
The Scotsman has inspired a positive shift on the blue half of Merseyside since he returned to the Toffees in January. Steering the side away from the relegation zone, he has helped the club to lift their aspirations, and the challenge this campaign has been competing with the best in the business.
A narrow 2-1 loss to **Liverpool**saw a strong second half performance while **Man City**and **Chelsea**have beaten Moyes’ men 2-0 despite difficult spells against the team. On this occasion, there were periods where **Everton**forced the Gunners to sweat, but the league leaders would be triumphant.
In the end, Viktor Gyokeres grabbed the only goal of the game as he slotted away a penalty that came from a needless handball by **Jake O’Brien**in the first half. However, Moyes still took positives from a performance that frustrated Arsenal, and he felt better officiating could have helped their chances.
“We were competitive, the spirit we showed for long periods in the game. We didn’t quite have the quality to get a goal but overall I thought we did a good job against Arsenal. We tried to make it a tough game and I think it was for them.
“I didn’t think Arsenal gave us too many problems before the penalty kick. If anything we started better than Arsenal. But it was a poor decision by Jake O'Brien to raise his arms which made it difficult. I think that was the first corner of the game.
“These things happen and players don’t mean to do it but you shouldn’t be sticking your arms up there that’s for sure."
"A lot of things didn’t quite suit and go our way. There were quite a few people going down and the referee was blowing up for them. It’s a different football club here. We play tough and we expect the referee’s to do the same.”
