The Golden State Warriors got back in the win column on Saturday night, taking the second game of a baseball series with the Phoenix Suns, winning 119-116. It wasn’t the prettiest win — it got hairy late, again, and Draymond Green was ejected early in the second quarter, but a win is a win is a win. Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler III were fantastic, while the bench, led by the rotation return of Will Richard (who scored 20 points in 19 minutes), was the difference-maker.
I always love seeing how fans reacted to a game in real time. So here’s a look at the live reactions from Dub Nation, as seen through the comment section of the Golden State of Mindgame thread.
First quarter: ‘All-you-can-eat for Phoenix offense’
The Suns scored just 99 points on Thursday, yet had their highest-scoring quarter of the season to open Saturday’s game, and led 44-32 after one.
Second quarter: ‘Youth movement!’
Green got ejected early in the quarter, and it seemed to give energy to the team and the arena. The bench kept the Dubs in it, and the half ended with an outstanding four-point sequence. The Suns led 67-64 at the half.
Third quarter: ‘Let’s close the 4th’
The Warriors took control in the third quarter, but couldn’t run away with it. They took a 93-87 lead into the final frame.
Fourth quarter: ‘Welcome back Will!’
The Warriors quickly pushed the lead to double digits, but the Suns would erase most of it. It was a tense game late, but the Warriors executed and put a notch in the win column.
