Liverpool will be able to freshen up their ranks with some reinforcements in the January transfer window
Liverpool won 2-1 away at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening. Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike got their goals against Thomas Frank’s men at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Next up for the Reds is a home clash against struggling Wolves on 27th December.
The Merseyside outfit have risen up to 5th in the Premier League table after their victory in North London. They are now on 29 points after 17 fixtures. Arne Slot’s side are only behind 4th position Chelsea on goal difference.
Liverpool interested in Franculino Dju
Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in FC Midtjylland attacker Franculino Dju with Everton also said to be keen, according to TEAMtalk. The pair are being linked with a swoop for the striker ahead of the January transfer window. They both have the chance to bring in some new faces this winter.
Reporter Christian Falk has said, as per CF Bayern Insider: “The interesting thing for England is that FC Bayern aren’t the only club at the table! Premier League champions Liverpool are also very interested in him. So perhaps we might get an exciting poker game between Arne Slot’s side and Bayern Munich. Also, Borussia Dortmund is said to be interested in this player. So this will be an intriguing transfer topic for us next year.”
He added: “Bayern Munich are taking a closer look at Franculino Dju. Last summer, they really tried to get him, but they were only allowed to make loan signings. FC Midtjylland said no to this and made it clear that if they were to lose the striker, they only wanted to sell him. So, there was no deal! This coming summer, Bayern Munich could make this deal happen, as he’s not so expensive – we would think €25m-€30m perhaps. He’s 21 years of age, so he’s very much one for the future.”
Who is Liverpool-linked Franculino Dju?
Dju, 21, started his career at Benfica and rose up through their academy. He was a regular for the Portuguese giants at various different youth levels. The forward then left in 2023 to pursue a new challenge at Midtjylland and hasn’t looked back since.
The Guinea-Bissau international, who has 14 caps to his name, has scored 54 goals in 103 appearances in all competitions, 21 of which have come this season. He is under contract in Denmark until June 2029 so his current club are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon. They are likely to face a battle to retain his services though amid attention from elsewhere.
Liverpool could see him as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined them, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he is young and has the potential to improve down the line.
Everton have also been mentioned as a suitor and they would be able to offer him more game time then their rivals. The Toffees could do with some more firepower in attack to compete with Beto and Thierno Barry. They lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal last time out.
