Just in: David Ornstein says Liverpool star Isak suffers leg break as recovery time claim made

Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has suffered a leg break after picking up the injury against Tottenham Hotspur, David Ornstein has confirmed.

Isak suffered the injury against Spurs after coming off the bench. The Swedish international scored Liverpool's second goal of the match, but he was injured in the process during a challenge with Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven.

Ornstein reported earlier on Sunday that Isak had suffered a 'significant' injury, but the severity was yet to be revealed. Liverpool supporters will have been patiently waiting to discover how long their big-money summer signing will be out for, especially after he picked up a goal at the weekend.

According to The Athletic's Ornstein, Liverpool's fears are set to be confirmed, with Isak suffering a leg break against Tottenham. The Reds are yet to comment on the severity of Isak's injury, but he looks set to be out for a number of months.

Isak was helped off the pitch by Liverpool's physio staff, just about managing to walk, but he certainly looked in some immense pain. The former Newcastle United striker was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong in the second half, despite Isak only coming on after the break, and the Reds are now set to be without him for an extended period.

It's currently unclear exactly how long Isak is going to be watching on from the sidelines, but he's certainly going to miss a few months of action.
