‘Significant injury’–David Ornstein has hugely concerning Alexander Isak news for Liverpool

Liverpool picked up an important win on Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur, outlasting a Spurs side that picked up two red cards to win 2-1. It has been a difficult season for the Reds, as they have been mired in Mohamed Salah controversy in the last couple of weeks with legitimate questions surrounding the future of Arne Slot.

Meanwhile, Liverpool now have a fresh concern to worry about, as superstar striker Alexander Isak picked up an injury while attempting a shot in the win over Tottenham.

According to the latest from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool are no worried that Isak suffered a “significant injury” against Tottenham to his lower leg, and he is going to undergo MRI testing shortly to determine the extent of the knock.

Although Isak has certainly not gotten off to a flying start at the striker position after forcing a big money move from Champions League side Newcastle United to Premier League champions Liverpool, there is no doubting his status as one of the most talented No. 9’s on the planet.

Liverpool already bagged a great striker this past summer in Hugo Ekitike, who has outperformed Isak anyway. So losing Isak for a few games would actually not be that big of a deal for Liverpool, nor would it be an explanation for further struggles.

But Isak suffering a more extended absence would definitely hurt a Reds side that is still well below their title ambitions, having fallen quite rapidly behind top challengers Arsenal (as well as long time title rivals Manchester City).

Plus, Isak does have a bit of a proneness to injury over the years, and Liverpool now have to worry about the possibility of further aggravation. The difficult season only gets tougher for the regrouping Reds.
