Sky Sports News are reporting on Monday morning that their understanding is that Alexander Isak has broken his leg.
The former Newcastle United striker ironically picking up the injury when scoring a goal.
Alexander Isak putting Liverpool ahead against 10 man Spurs in the 56th minute on Saturday.
Only for Micky van de Ven to make contact with the goalscorer as he slid in to try and prevent the effort on goal.
Alexander Isak unable to celebrate the goal and instantly signalling for medical attention.
When analysing the incident for Sky Sports, former top referee Dermot Gallagher dismissed any idea that the Spurs player should have been red carded; “I can’t see that he (Micky van de Ven) has done anything that a footballer wouldn’t. I would be astonished if that was given as a red card anywhere else on the field.”
With Alexander Isak now facing a lengthy time out of action after a dismal first half of the season for Liverpool, Dermot Gallagher adding; “Players mistime challenges all the time and whilst he is slightly late, it is not a red card. Whether it be in the penalty area….or the other half.”
Official confirmation still awaited from Liverpool FC but Sky Sports News reporting that their understanding is that the MRI scans are set to have confirmed a broken leg for Alexander Isak.
