The San Antonio Spurs signed wing Stanley Umude to a two-way contract and waived guard Kyle Mangas.
The San Antonio Spurs have added wing Stanley Umude to a two-way contract, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. To make room for the move, the team waived guard Kyle Mangas.
San Antonio Spurs / Schedule
Mangas, who had signed a two-way deal earlier in December, did not appear in any NBA games for the Spurs but played 11 times for the Austin Spurs in the G League, averaging 16.5 points and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 39.3% from beyond the arc.
Umude initially signed a training camp contract with San Antonio this past offseason but was waived before the season began to clear space for Bismack Biyombo.
He remained with the Spurs' G League affiliate, putting up impressive numbers in 11 games: 20.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per contest, while shooting 39.5% from three on 7.8 attempts per game.
The 26-year-old has appeared in 47 NBA games over his career, including 22 games last season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Before that, he spent time with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 5.3 points in 12.8 minutes per game during the 2023-24 season.
Orsborn notes that Umude is expected to spend the remainder of the season with the Spurs.
