The decision makers at Chelsea need to pay close attention to the Blues’ game against Aston Villa this weekend.
Chelsea host Villa at Stamford Bridge, looking to close the gap between them and Unai Emery’s side.
Villa are currently in third, seven points above Chelsea, who sit in fourth. They failed to beat Newcastle United on Saturday but will be happy with the 2-2 draw after going 2-0 down in the game.

Clearly, though, Villa are a better outfit than Enzo Maresca’s team right now. There are at least two individuals at Villa Park who would easily fit in at Chelsea.

Chelsea should consider moves for Unai Emery and Morgan Rogers
There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Maresca, who is being linked to Manchester City. If he leaves west London next summer, Unai Emery could be a good replacement.
Morgan Rogers, who has really excelled under the Spaniard, would not be a bad recruit either.
After a slow start to the season, Rogers is now shining in the Premier League, scoring twice in his side’s 2-1 win against Manchester United over the weekend.
In total, the attacking midfielder has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 17 Premier League appearances.
As for Emery, his name may not be the most glamorous and his football is not always the most exciting. But he structures his team very well and gets results, which is the only thing that matters.
Ultimately, as far as a potential replacement for Maresca goes, Chelsea could do a lot worse than the former Arsenal manager. Emery’s compatriot Andoni Iraola is another option worth considering should the Blues find themselves having to look at contingency plans.
Imagine Enzo Maresca has just been sacked. Who should Chelsea hire to replace him?

Chelsea vs Aston Villa prediction
Villa are definitely the more in-form team at the moment out of them and Chelsea. Had Maresca been taking his side to Villa Park, a lot of people would have predicted a Villa win.
However, with Chelsea playing at home and having a chance to move closer to Emery’s side, the players should be up for it.
With all of that in mind, The Chelsea Chronicle is going for a 2-1 win in the Blues’ favour.
