Arne builds a wall–Slot working to block Liverpool defender exit

Joe Gomez has played in four of Liverpool’s last five Premier League games.

That’s an improvement to how things were earlier in the season. AC Milan were close to signing the defender as it looked like he’d largely be a bench dweller.

His rise in the Liverpool pecking order is now attracting attention once again from Italy.

Calciomercato‘s Daniele Longo reports that AC Milan are evaluating a move for the Englishman all over again. The report indicates that the Reds hadn’t expressed openness to his transfer in the summer.

Arne Slot still wants to keep the player, and is said to be putting up a wall. Calciomercato state the 28-year-old ‘would rush’ to join the Rossoneri in January, but there may be a hint of Italian bias there.

CM make it clear that despite Liverpool’s stance, Milan will make an attempt for Gomez.

Something similar is reported by today’s Corriere dello Sport.

The newspaper claims Milan could actually offer a six-month loan deal for the versatile defender. Contact will be made with Liverpool to sign to try and facilitate a move.

This all sounds overly optimistic on behalf of Milan. If Gomes is getting games, and Slot wants to keep him, a move looks very unlikely.
