Last summer, Chelsea allowed Aarón Anselmino to join Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old struggled for regular minutes at Chelsea, mainly due to injuries. The Blues decided to send the Argentine on loan to BVB to help him get regular minutes and adapt to European football.
Anselmino could return to Stamford Bridge in the winter market if Sky Deutschland are to be believed. This is possible due to an ‘undisclosed clause’ that the two clubs agreed last summer.
As per this clause, Chelsea can recall the centre-back in January if he doesn’t play a certain amount of minutes.
He’s played 594 minutes from nine matches in all competitions. Sky reports the defender hasn’t played the required minutes for this clause to be invalid.
They claim the Chelsea man could have achieved it, had he played against SC Freiburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach. He was forced to miss the last two matches due to injury.
Chelsea now hold the power, giving Dortmund a little concern.
Anselmino was set to return to Chelsea after this season, but it’s possible that could be brought forward to January. The Blues are said to be confident his long-term future lies at Stamford Bridge.
