Morrisons is investigating after The S*n newspaper was spotted for sale outside one of its franchise stores in the shadow of Anfield stadium.
A video shared on TikTok, which has been seen hundreds of times, shows the newspaper tucked behind The Times on a news stand outside the Morrisons Daily store at the Esso on Oakfield Road in Anfield. The ECHO understands this was an isolated incident at one of Morrisons' franchise partner stores and is now being urgently investigated.
The newspaper has been vehemently boycotted throughout Merseyside and beyond ever since it printed repugnant and untruthful allegations about the behaviour of Liverpool supporters during the 1989 Hillsborough disaster in which 97 people were unlawfully killed.
In the video, posted by ScouserLFC121, a man is heard asking "Is he really selling that outside Anfield's ground?".
Hundreds of comments have been posted on the video expressing disgust at the situation.
One commenter said: "Selling the S*n newspaper outside Anfield football ground. Disrespectful is a understatement."
The supermarket chain has confirmed all copies of the newspaper have been removed.
In the video the newspaper is tucked behind The Times paper on the stand located near the doors at the entrance of the store.
The video then pans around to show Oakfield Road, with Anfield stadium in the distance.
