Man United and Man City pushing to sign Premier League star

Manchester United suffered another disappointing defeat on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 by high-flying Aston Villa.

The Red Devils started the season in dire form but have improved of late, but they fell behind shortly before the break at Villa Park on Sunday.

Morgan Rogers’ stunning strike put the hosts in front, but Matheus Cunha equalised for the Red Devils in first-half added time.

Rogers then restored the Villans’ advantage, and Unai Emery’s side held on to secure all three points and remain just three points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

United, meanwhile, sit seventh in the top flight standings, and Amorim will be keen to see his side return to winning ways against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

In the meantime, it appears that United are still pushing to sign a Premier League forward.

As per Fabrizio Romano, both Manchester United and rivals Manchester City are pushing hard to sign Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghana international’s future has been a hot topic in the lead-up to the January transfer window, with several clubs seemingly interested in the player.

Liverpool are also said to have enquired about the player in November and, although they haven’t had any contact since, Romano claims that the Merseyside outfit could still move to sign the player next month.

Tottenham Hotspur are not currently advancing in an attempt to sign Semenyo, it is claimed, with the player’s £65 million price tag set to expire on January 10.

Semenyo, 5, joined the Cherries from Bristol City back in 2023 and has since scored 30 goals in 106 games for the south coast club across all competitions, as well as providing 13 assists.

The forward – who has been in fine form this term – was linked with a move away from Bournemouth over the summer but signed a new deal with the club, which is set to expire in 2030.

It is claimed that the Ghanaian will make a decision on his future, with it appearing increasingly likely that he will depart Bournemouth in the new year.
