Chelsea target Greek wonderkid as latest young talent to move to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are keen on Genk wonderkid Konstantinos Karetsas. The Greece international has made a strong start to the season and has also caught the eye of Arsenal and Liverpool.

TeamTalk has reported that Chelsea have the advantage however, having presented the most firm interest and making contact with the player’s camp directly. Karetsas has been a part of the Genk first team setup for 18 months, making 70 appearances for the club.

The 18-year-old’s contract expires in 2029, and is reportedly likely to leave the club next summer. Chelsea’s recruitment policy has focused on signing young talent.

The Blues snapped up the likes of Estevao, Alejandro Garnacho, Liam Delap, Jorrel Hato, and Jamie Gittens this summer. Geovany Quenda, and Dario Essugo are also set to join the club in 2026 and beyond.

They now have Karetsas in their line of sights as the next wonderkid to move to Stamford Bridge. Karetsas plays primarily as a No.10, but can play anywhere in the final third. He has provided ten assists while also scoring two goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for Genk so far this season.

He is a product of the Genk youth system while also spending three years at Anderlecht. He rejoined Genk in 2023, making his debut as a 15-year-old for the club’s second team Jong Genk.

He was promoted to the Genk first team in February of 2024 and has been a standout ever since.

Chelsea keen on Karetsas

Chelsea have a good relationship with Genk having signed Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois as young players from there. No transfer fee has been mooted just yet but the player is reportedly worth around £38m.

The Blues face competition from the across the pond as well, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also keen on the player. The Chelsea hierarchy are reportedly pulling out all the stops to convince the player to make West London his next destination.
