Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain as the January transfer window approaches. The 33-year-old forward caused a stir after admitting he had no relationship with head coach Arne Slot following Liverpool’s draw against Leeds United. In the aftermath of his controversial comments, Salah did not travel with the squad for their Champions League win over Inter Milan.
Despite the tension, Salah returned to make an impact, registering an assist after coming off the bench in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Brighton, earning applause from the Reds supporters. It remains unclear whether Salah will stay at Anfield beyond the January window amid ongoing speculation over his future. Curtis Jones revealed that Salah had apologised to his Liverpool teammates for his explosive interview, while Slot stated he would avoid discussing Liverpool matters with Salah while the forward represents Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
“I said last week that actions speak louder than words and we moved on,” said Slot. “He was in the squad and he was the first substitution I made. “Now he’s at AFCON playing big games for himself but also his country. It’s fair to them but also us, because we are going to play some very important games, that all the focus is on him over there and there should not be any distraction from me saying anything about his time here at Liverpool. “We moved on after the Leeds interview and he played against Brighton.”
According to Sky Sports News’ Chief Correspondent Kaveh Solhekol, Salah is likely to remain at Liverpool during the January transfer window. Solhekol said: “I think he will stay at Liverpool in January. Obviously, there are still some issues to work out behind the scenes. I think that will happen in the next few weeks. It looks like he will stay. It’s good for Liverpool, it’s good for the Premier League if Mo Salah stays.”
