Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most in-demand players, with a release clause making a January move away from the Vitality Stadium a strong possibility. The Cherries have agreed to allow potential suitors to speak to their top scorer if they receive a £65million bid, but only if the offer arrives by January 10. This agreement, included when Semenyo signed a new contract over the summer, is designed to give Andoni Iraola’s team time to secure a replacement.

If no deal is reached this season, Semenyo’s release clause is expected to drop to £60millions in the summer window. Manchester United and Manchester City are among the clubs linked with the former Bristol City forward, who has already contributed eight goals and three assists in the Premier League this season. Arsenal and Tottenham were also mentioned as potential destinations over the summer, though the Gunners’ moves for Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke make a big-money transfer less likely.

Liverpool were also linked with Semenyo during the summer but opted to pursue other targets, including Alexander Isak. However, an injury to the Reds’ record signing could see them return for Semenyo in January. Semenyo could make a decision on his next club as soon as today. According to Sky Sports, Tottenham have ended their pursuit of the Bournemouth forward. Spurs have shifted their focus to other targets, leaving the race for Semenyo hanging in the balance. Liverpool have already held positive discussions with Bournemouth regarding a potential move for Semenyo.

Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol has also revealed that Semenyo will join Liverpool if they make a move. He said: “If Liverpool come in for him, he’ll go to Liverpool. Liverpool is too good a move to turn down. They have been big admirers of him. They have looked at signing him before. They also have a track record of signing players in January. Luis Diaz looked like he was going to Tottenham and at the last minute Liverpool came in for him. Cody Gakpo looked like he was going to Manchester United.

“Liverpool don’t get involved in a bidding war. They wait until the last minute, until other clubs almost do a deal for a player and then they make a phone call to say they will match the deal. Liverpool are expected to have a quiet January. There is money to spend. Sometimes they move quickly to get a summer target in if they think they are going to go somewhere else. Over the next few days, especially in light of Isak’s injury, there will be discussions over whether they make a late move for Semenyo.”
