Darius Garland trade: Two West teams linked to Cavs star PG

As the Cavs' struggles continue, two Western Conference teams might be in play on the Darius Garland sweepstakes.

Everyone has been wondering what's going on around the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After a major 64-win outing from last year, the Cavs are suddenly stumbling this 2025-26 season. Their struggles have led team owner Dan Gilbert to be "very unhappy" over their awful 15-14 standing.

In the wake of the team's slump, Darius Garland has been drawing a lot of chatter. And in a potential deal, two Western Conference teams could be on the line for him.

“The Sacramento Kings have kept an eye on Garland’s situation as they remain motivated to find a long-term answer at point guard following De’Aaron Fox‘s departure," sources tell Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal. "The Minneota Timberwolves are another known team motivated for point guard help to take pressure off of Anthony Edwards.

"However, it’d be challenging for either team to find a viable path to add Garland.”

Composed mostly by veterans with both Dennis Schroder and Russell Westbrook running the point, the Kings definitely have a key hole on who could be the floor general of their future following last year's departure of De'Aaron Fox.

Besides taking off the pressure on Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves are on the same end as well of finding a much younger point guard, as Mike Conley is already approaching the twilight of his career.

It would be interesting to see how things might play for Garland, especially if the downslide continues for the Cavs.

The star point guard has been struggling in his own, averaging just 16.9 points in nearly 38 percent shooting.
