Simon Jordan hits out at Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca for'absurd'decision he has made

It is fair to say that former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan is not the biggest fan of Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

Maresca has done a fantastic job at Chelsea since taking over the club in 2024.

Last season, he led the Blues to glory in the Club World Cup and Conference League. Under him, they were also able to qualify for the Champions League.

Do you think Chelsea can win the Premier League with Enzo Maresca? 👀

If not, who can bring the title back to Stamford Bridge?

However, Maresca’s long-term future has been thrown into doubt, with the 45-year-old currently being linked with a switch to Manchester City.

Simon Jordan thinks Enzo Maresca’s rant was ‘absurd’

Speculation about Maresca’s future comes after his recent outburst where the Italian claimed that he had not been supported in the build-up to Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Everton.

Jordan has since described his decision to go on that rant and some other comments that Maresca made last season as “absurd”.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “I don’t warm to him, but then again, I didn’t warm to Eddie Howe and I didn’t warm to Chris Wilder and I didn’t warm to Marco Silva and I’ve subsequently changed my thinking on it.

“I think what he said last week was absurd. I think some of the things he said last season were absurd.”

Imagine Enzo Maresca has just been sacked. Who should Chelsea hire to replace him?

If the former Leicester City boss remains at Chelsea, he could push for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson to boost his squad.

It has been claimed that Maresca is an admirer of Anderson, who has impressed at the City Ground this season.

Enzo Maresca set to miss Aston Villa clash

Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture is against Aston Villa, but Maresca will not be in the Stamford Bridge dugout for it.

After picking up another yellow card during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle United, Maresca is set to serve a suspension.

It means Willy Caballero will be the man shouting out instructions to Chelsea players from the touchline.

Discipline has been a real issue for Maresca and the Blues this season. The Chelsea head coach was also sent off for his wild celebrations in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool in October.

Villa are in incredible form right now, recently beating Manchester United 2-1. Chelsea not having Maresca in the dugout for the Villans’ visit to west London is a massive blow, but hopefully Caballero can successfully fill in for his boss.
