Alexander Isak has undergone surgery on a leg fracture he suffered during Liverpool’s win over Spurs.
The Reds have had their fair share of injuries this season, and they do not appear to be slowing up any time soon.
They lost both Conor Bradley and Isak against Tottenham due to issues, although the Swede’s is a lot more serious than any fan would have hoped.

It was Micky van de Ven’s challenge that caused the fracture, with Liverpool fans not happy that it went unpunished, even if Isak did score in the process of being wiped out.
Jamie Carragher has had his say, though, and it is safe to say that it might not sit well with some Reds supporters.

Carragher is usually fairly unbiased in his analysis after games, but he sometimes can lean towards siding with the Liverpool players.
However, if a defender is involved, he does like to use his experience of being one himself to understand their point of view, with this being exactly what he has done in this case.

Van de Ven has certainly received a bit of stick from Liverpool fans due to wiping Isak out after the ball had gone, but Carragher does not believe he was in the wrong.
“It’s a huge blow because I think Liverpool were actually one attacker short anyway,” he said as per ESPN.
“There’s a lot been made about a lot of the challenges in the game from Tottenham players and a lot of them weren’t clever.
“I’ve put myself in Van de Ven’s position and that’s a challenge I’d probably make. He’s trying to block it, it’s just the follow through. I don’t know where else anyone thinks his foot’s going to go.
“He has to make that challenge. You can’t let the striker just get a shot away there in that situation.
“It’s just really bad luck for Isak. It’s probably one of the first glimpses we’ve seen of his real quality in a Liverpool shirt.”

Although the exact timescale of Isak’s recovery is not yet known, the fact he has a fractured leg and damage to his ankle means he will be out for several months at least.
However, the only slight bit of good news is that The Times have reported that he is expected to return before the end of the season.
Of course, this is far from ideal, especially given the hassle it took to bring him to Anfield in the first place, but unfortunately, these things happen in football.
Now, it will be about rest and recovery, and despite likely being back before May, his main focus should probably be on next season already.
