Liverpool cult hero Divock Origi is set to become a free agent in time for the January transfer window after reaching an agreement to tear up his AC Milan contract. The update comes not long after the Reds were dealt a big injury setback involving striker Alexander Isak.
Liverpool revealed on Monday evening that Isak had suffered a fractured leg which has required surgery, during the 2-1 win against Tottenham over the weekend. The injury was a result of a challenge from Spurs defender Micky van de Ven, which came while Isak put the Reds' 1-0 up.
The injury leaves Arne Slot one man lighter in attack, though with the January transfer window opening soon, the Liverpool boss could potentially seek to address tehe issue.
Discussing Isak's setback on Tuesday, the Liverpool boss admitted: "It's going to be a long injury. A couple of months. That's a big, big big disappointment for him and also for us."

Various outlets, including Sky Sport Italia, have confirm that Origi has agreed a contract termination with Milan. It means that the 30-year-old will be available on a free transfer in January as he looks to resurrect his career.
The Belgian striker joined the Italian giants when his Liverpool deal expired in 2022. However, he managed just 36 appearances and found the net only twice during his time at the club.
He has been left out of the squad entirely since December 2024, following his return from an underwhelming loan stint with Premier League side Nottingham Forest. However, prior to his struggles in Italy, Origi carved out his place in Anfield legend with a string of unforgettable strikes during the Jürgen Klopp era.

The first was a dramatic 96th-minute Merseyside derby winner in 2018. In a chaotic sequence of events, Virgil van Dijk smashed a half-volley against Everton's crossbar, the ball rebounded twice and keeper Jordan Pickford couldn't get it away, gifting Origi a simple header at the goal-line.
Next came the forward's vital contributions during the Reds' march to their sixth Champions League triumph in 2019. He netted twice, including Liverpool's iconic "corner taken quickly" goal that clinched a stunning 4-3 aggregate fightback against Barcelona at Anfield in the semi-finals, before finding the net in in the final against Tottenham to secure the title.
It's yet to be determined what moves Liverpool will make in the forthcoming transfer window following Isak's injury setback. Slot didn't give much away when quizzed about his intentions. "My only thoughts are on the upcoming two games," he said. "It's a time for our players and fans to roll their sleeves up to help us in the best possible way."
