Alexander Isak will be out for a 'couple of months', Arne Slot has confirmed, increasing speculation that Liverpool are preparing to dip into the transfer market

Arne Slot insists that he isn't thinking about the January transfer window, despite Liverpool losing star striker Alexander Isak for two months. Isak, 26, broke his leg during Saturday's 2-1 victory over 10-man Tottenham, having been tackled while opening the scoring.
Slot has confirmed that the Sweden international will be sidelined for a 'couple of months', missing around 15 games. Isak's absence has prompted more speculation that Liverpool will dip into the transfer market.
Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a £65million move to Anfield. The Bournemouth forward, who's also a target for Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham, sees his release clause become active on January 1 and clubs will only have two weeks to trigger it.
But the window isn't on Slot's mind. "My only thoughts are on the upcoming two games," the Liverpool manager said ahead of Saturday's clash with Wolves and their following game against Leeds United.
"Two difficult ones again, two home games. I think it's a time for the players we do have available to do what they've done so many times, to roll their sleeves up, and not only our players, but our fans as well to help us in the best possible way to get the results we want.
"The players that are available need to give everything they have and the fans, as they usually do and I expect them to do now again as well, will help us. That is where my focus is."
Meanwhile, Slot ruled out recalling Harvey Elliott from his season-long loan with Aston Villa. Elliott has been frozen out at Villa, who'll have to pay £30million to sign him permanently if he makes a certain number of appearances.
When asked if Liverpool had explored the possibility of bringing Elliott back, Slot replied: "No, Harvey is an Aston Villa player and he is supposed to be going there for a season. So, questions about him, the best thing to ask is Aston Villa - they are doing really well, by the way."

Alongside Isak, Liverpool are currently without Mo Salah, who's at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt. Also missing against Wolves will be the suspended Dominik Szoboszlai while Conor Bradley and Cody Gakpo both have a '50-50' chance of playing.
Joe Gomez, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni also remain unavailable. A win would take Liverpool into the top four for at least a few hours, although the two teams directly above them - Chelsea and Villa - face each other at Stamford Bridge.
