**Standard Sport** understands that contact has been made by the Blues over a January transfer.
Chelsea hold a longstanding interest in Semenyo which dates back to a failed bid for the player, then at Bristol City, in 2019.
Semenyo signed a new contract with Bournemouth during the summer transfer window, amid interest from Tottenham, which reportedly included a £65million release clause.
The clause is said to be only valid during the first half of January, to give Bournemouth time to find a replacement.
