“See him as a top midfield option” – Scout tips Chelsea to make new January signing

Chelsea have been tipped to make a new January signing in the middle of the pitch, according to one former scout this week.

As we have been saying and been hearing, not many people are expecting Chelsea to have a very busy January transfer window at all and in fact, most don’t even see them making any new signings.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea hold fresh conversations with agents of defender they’re trying to sign!

There are a few situations that could arise such as selling Axel Disasi and/or Raheem Sterling, because these two need to go and will want to be out there playing football again for the second half of the season.

However, in terms of new arrivals, we don’t see much. Although, one name that does not go away is midfielder Kobbie Mainoo of Manchester United, and we all know the situation there.

He wants out because he is not being picked there, and it seems that he wants out in the January window, and you cannot blame him.

Mainoo could be heading to Chelsea in January.

That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during their most successful period, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Chelsea are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old.

“*Chelsea are long-term admirers of Mainoo,*” Brown said.

“So yes, I think if he was allowed to leave Man United in January, they’ll be among the contenders because they see him as a top midfield option.

“He could come into that team and improve them, I have no doubt.

“They’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation because he wants to leave, so it comes down to whether the club are willing to let that happen.

“It’s just a shambles from Man United to even have got to a point where we’re talking about an academy product, an England international, leaving to join Chelsea.

“The way they’ve treated him has been embarrassing, the manager keeps talking about earning his place in the side, but how can he do that without being given a chance?”
