Al-Hilal’s Rúben Neves has been linked with a move to Manchester United next year.
Former Al-Hilal forward Sami Al-Jaber talks about the midfielder for MBC and AS have relayed his comments.
The player linked to Manchester United will soon enter the final six months of his contract. Al-Jaber fear the 28-year-old will leave the Middles Eastern club for Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.
“I fear Neves will move from Al Hilal to Real Madrid for free after his contract with the club expires at the end of this season,” he said.
Al-Jaber is a product of Al-Hilal’s youth system and spent over two decades with them between 1986 and 2007. Barring a loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2000, he spent his entire playing career with the Saudi club.
Manchester United in mix for €15 signing
The former attacker claims the Portugal international is wanted by the Premier League sides, who could make offers to him. He hasn’t mentioned the details of these clubs.
“There are Premier League clubs that want to sign Neves, and the contracts they are offering him are for three years, meaning until he turns 31. Real Madrid is also interested, and I’m sure there are other clubs that want Neves,” Al-Jaber explained.
AS suggests the player could be interesting for Real Madrid if he were to be available for free. They also relay claims made in Saudi Arabia about Al-Hilal’s stance.
With Neves refusing to sign an extension, Al-Hilal would accept a bid around €15-20m in the winter market.
AS say Manchester United are ‘one of the clubs most interested’ in securing his services. Whether this is their own info or if they are basing it on other claims isn’t clear.
If the Red Devils are indeed keen, they can sign the midfielder with the Premier League experience for €15m in January.
