Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is working against the clock to recover in time for the Spanish Supercup, which will start on January 8th with the Semifinals against Atlético de Madrid in a single-elimination game. Carvajal underwent an arthroscopy to repair his right knee on October 27th, and he decided to stay in Madrid to keep working at Valdebebas during the Christmas break, according to a report from MARCA.
Real Madrid’s struggles started as soon as Carvajal went down with his injury, so coach Xabi Alonso will definitely be hoping to have the Spanish defender available for the tough Derby against Atlético as his presence would provide veteran leadership on the field.
If Carvajal can’t go, Fede Valverde will likely start at the right-back spot until either the Spanish right-back or Trent Alexander-Arnold come back from their injuries.
