Liverpool identify two Premier League attackers as transfer targets

Premier League champions Liverpool will hope to continue their recent resurgence when they face 20th-placed Wolves on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s side started the defence of their crown superbly, but a dismal run of form during October and November effectively ruined their hopes of retaining the title.

The Reds now sit fifth in the top flight standings, although they are already ten points behind leaders Arsenal.

The visit of Wolves on Saturday provides Liverpool with a great opportunity to continue their winning run, however, with Rob Edwards’ side yet to win a single league match so far this term.

Off the pitch, however, the Reds have been handed a huge blow with Alexander Isak set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury during their win against Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

With that in mind, it appears that the Merseyside outfit are searching for attacking reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool have identified Brentford’ Igor Thiago and Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as potential transfer targets.

The report claims that the Premier League champions have been forced to reconsider their transfer strategy following the injury to Isak, accompanied by Mohamed Salah now being at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Semenyo has been heavily linked with a move away from Bournemouth for several months now, with a number of Premier League sides said to be interested in the Ghana international.

The attacker has scored eight goals in 16 games for the Cherries so far this term, and has a release clause set at around £65 million which expires in early January.

Thiago, meanwhile, joined Brentford from Belgian side Club Brugge in 2024 but missed much of his first season through injury, making just eight appearances for the Bees.

This term, however, the Brazilian has been in fine form, with only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (19) having netted more than him in the Premier League.
