Arsenal and Newcastle‘very interested’in 18-year-old–Club battling to keep him

Arsenal and Newcastle are both interested in Olympique Marseille youngster Darryl Bakola, with the French side trying to tie him down to a new deal.

That’s according to Foot Mercato. They report that Arsenal and Chelsea’ interest in the 18-year-old has made getting him signed to a new deal a priority for Marseille.

FM explain that after starting Bakola in the Champions League clash with Newcastle, Roberto de Zerbi was sending out a message. Not only did he put out a tactical coup, but he also sent out a strong political message.

He made it clear that the young star was a part of his plans now and in the future. But the exposure has forced OM to secure their rising star as quickly as possible.

They’re working to get a deal signed as quickly as possible, with a concrete contract offer in the player’s hands. The club are taking a benevolent and firm approach to his future. They’re making it clear that he is expected to stay. Keeping him is an absolute priority.

There is increased interest in the youngster, though. Chelsea are making moves behind the scenes while Newcastle, Arsenal, Stuttgart and Dortmund are also ‘very interested’. They could put a spanner in the works for Marseille’s attempts to get their talent signed to a new deal.
