Chelsea‘making moves behind the scenes’to sign player–Familiar strategy being thought up

Chelsea are ‘making moves behind the scenes’ for Marseille youngster Darryl Bakola, with the French side determined to get him signed to a new deal.

That’s according to Foot Mercato. They report on the Marseille youngster today and their efforts to keep him away from England.

Bakola was recently handed a start by Roberto de Zerbi in the Champions League clash with Newcastle United. He impressed in that game, providing an assist for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

His inclusion was a political message from the Italian manager. He is part of the group at Marseille trying to convince Bakola to stay with them.

His current deal expires in 2027, and they’re determined to get him signed to a new deal. A concrete offer has been made to him and his camp. He has that contract in his hand, waiting too be signed, but he is yet to do so.

Marseille are determined to keep him but know there is interest in England. Chelsea, in particular, are making moves behind the scenes for Marseille’s number 50. They’re considering scooping him up, before then sending him on loan to Strasbourg.

It’s currently up to the French U20 international to make his decision. But it appears Chelsea intend to give him one to make, with Marseille’s contract on the table at least.
