Chelsea finally set to give up hope on‘highly-rated’player after six years at Stamford Bridge

The rate at which Chelsea are signing new players these days means individuals do not have long to prove their worth before being moved on.

No club made more money than the Blues in the previous summer transfer window, with them needing to sell big in order to fund signings like Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

The big spending has made it very difficult for youngsters to break through from Cobham. Reports have already stated Jimi Tauriainen will leave in January after not being able to make it in the first team.

Chelsea to sell Leo Castledine in January

One of those who is enjoying a brilliant campaign is Leo Castledine, who is on loan at Huddersfield Town this season.

The midfielder has nine goals in all competitions this season, including a sensational strike in an EFL Cup upset against Sunderland.

Despite this being his best loan spell to date, it looks as if Chelsea are coming to the conclusion that things are not going to work out for him at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Mirror, a permanent move away from the Blues is on the cards in January, which will be six years on from when he joined the club.

It will be a shame to see Castledine’s time at the club come to an end, and Chelsea will be losing a talented young player.

Chelsea sources believed Castledine is ‘highly-rated’ (OneFootball), and the club decided against selling him permanently last summer.

John Terry was also tipping Castledine for big things, however it looks as if this one is going to slip through the net at Stamford Bridge.

The reports have suggested that plenty of Championship clubs are lining up to sign him, a sign of how well he has performed in League One this season.
