Team news: Jesus starts quarter-final

Gabriel Jesus makes his first start for us since January 12, to spearhead the attack against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

It’s the Brazilian forward’s 100th appearance for us – he scored a hat-trick against the same opposition at the same stage of the competition last December. He also netted twice more against Palace in the league a few days later.

Jesus comes in as one of eight changes to the side that beat Everton away on Saturday night.

Kepa Arrizabalaga starts in goal, as he has done in both Carabao Cup games for us so far. But the defence remains largely unchanged from the weekend. Jurrien Timber, William Saliba and Riccardo Calafiori all retain their place, with Myles Lewis-Skelly coming in at left back.

Mikel Merino captains the side and is joined in midfield by Eberechi Eze and Christian Norgaard. Jesus is flanked in attack by Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke.

As for Palace, they make just three changes to the side that lost to Leeds United at the weekend.

Former Gunner Eddie Nketiah retains his place up front with Jean-Philippe Mateta, but Daniel Benitez comes in for Dean Henderson in goal, while Jaydee Canvot and Jefferson Lerma start in place of Nathanial Clyne and Will Hughes.
