Antoine Semenyo has had an impressive start to the 2025-26 season, contributing eight goals and three assists in 16 Premier League appearances. The Ghana international’s contract with Bournemouth runs until 2030 and includes a £65million release clause that becomes active in January. Bournemouth had valued Semenyo at £70million in the summer, but the winter sale price is now set at £65million.
The clause must be activated by a specific date, giving Bournemouth a brief window to find a replacement, and is open to any interested club. If he stays beyond January, the clause will be available again in the next transfer window at a lower price. Bournemouth have already sold several key players following a successful 2024-25 campaign under Andoni Iraola.
Spain defender Dean Huijsen joined Real Madrid in May for £50million, while left-back Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi, and winger Dango Ouattara also departed. A year earlier, Dominic Solanke left for Tottenham under a £65million exit provision. Since joining Bournemouth from Championship side Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has made 106 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 13 assists.
Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has admitted uncertainty over Antoine Semenyo’s future but confirmed he is keen to retain his star player. Iraola said: “You never know what is going to happen. In the summer there were a lot of movements. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the winter movements. At the end, you sign a contract and understand that both parties are happy. I hope we don’t lose him, but I don’t know, I can’t control what’s going to happen.”
Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool have shown interest in Semenyo, while Chelsea, who made an initial enquiry, have since withdrawn from the race. According to The Athletic, Semenyo prefers a January move to Manchester City, with his ambition to win trophies cited as a key factor in his desire to join Pep Guardiola’s side. As of now, nothing has been formally agreed, with the January transfer window set to open in a week.
