Will Luka Doncic play on Christmas Day? Lakers insider drops huge update

There is a "very real possibility" that Luka might play in Christmas Day against the Houston Rockets.

Luka Doncic won't play in the Los Angeles Lakers' Tuesday clash against the Phoenix Suns due to his left leg contusion. Yet despite uncertainty about his status moving forward, it appears that there is a chance that the superstar will be available on Christmas Day.

According to ESPN's Lakers correspondent Dave McMenamin, Doncic might be available for the Lakers on their holiday matchup against the Houston Rockets.

"He was dealing with a calf strain and missed some time earlier this season with a lower left leg injury," McMenamin said "They’re saying this is just a bruise, so they’re going to work on some sort of wrap or perhaps padding that Luka can wear on the leg to protect it from things like the knee he took from Bogdanovic in the Clippers game moving forward.

"But there’s still a very real possibility that he feels good enough to go Thursday against the Rockets."

Doncic notably sustained his leg injury in the Lakers' 103-88 loss against the Clippers this past weekend, in which he didn't play in the second half.

He's currently listed out on a day-to-day basis.

Luka returning would be tremendous for LA in its Western Conference showdown against Houston. The Slovenian star is averaging a league-leading 34.1 points with 8.8 assists and 8.6 boards.
