The Pelicans made it clear that they'll only trade Trey Murphy III in exchange for a massive return like what the Magic gave to the Grizzlies for Desmond Bane.
It's been widely viewed that Trey Murphy III has been marked untouchable by the New Orleans Pelicans.

Despite the team's awful 8-22 record so far, the Pels have closed any trade discussion around the rising wing by putting an extremely costly price tag.
But according to NBA insider Jake Fischer, there is one condition that New Orleans will consider in order to pull the trigger for Murphy III: they desire a Desmond Bane-like package from an interested team.
This past offseason, the Magic notably went all-in just to acquire Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies, surrendering Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, five future first-round draft assets, and a first-round pick swap.
It is indeed quite a haul, and everyone in the league can only wait if there's a team that will put that kind of staggering offer to the Pels for Murphy III.
This season, Murphy III is averaging 20.8 points, 6.3 boards and 1.7 steals, further carving his reputation as an elite 3-and-D forward.
