Donovan Mitchell set the record straight for him and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the wake of their disappointing run so far this 2025-26 season.
"We’ve got to find it. We’re 29 games in. We’re not a playoff team right now, and we’re not playing like it," he said in Andscape.
"We have the talent, we have the group, but we’re not playing like it. That’s on the 15 of us. We have to find it collectively. It’s not on just one individual."
Mitchell and the Cavaliers are standing in a peculiar spot this year. They are currently outside of the top-four standing in the Eastern Conference with a 17-14 record.
Out of their recent slump, murmurs have suddenly appeared around the group. Team owner Dan Gilbert is reportedly "very unhappy" about their progress, while there have been trade speculations around Darius Garland.
With their win this Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans to make it two consecutive wins, it's still never too late for Mitchell and the Cavs to regain their seat atop the East and redeem their title-contending reputation.
