Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray injured in loss to Detroit Pistons

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray suffered an injury during a 136-127 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday at Golden 1 Center.

Rookie first-round draft pick Nique Clifford started the second half in place of Murray. A short time later, the Kings announced Murray would not return due to a right calf injury. Murray finished with two points, one rebound, one assist, one steal and two blocked shots in 20 minutes.

Murray missed the first 15 games of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. He has appeared in 15 games since returning to the lineup, averaging career highs of 15.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals.

The Kings (7-23) have been besieged by injuries this season. They have yet to play a game with their projected starting lineup and have not been at full strength since the preseason. Kings coach Doug Christie has used 17 different starting lineups.

Three-time All-NBA center Domantas Sabonis is expected to miss at least four more weeks after being sidelined for the past month with a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. Two-time All-Star guard Zach LaVine is expected to miss at least another week after suffering a left ankle sprain in a Nov. 14 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In addition, backup center Drew Eubanks is out with an avulsion fracture to his left thumb. Malik Monk, Dennis Schroder and Clifford have also missed games due to injuries.
