Report: Title winner moves CLOSER to Anfield return

Liverpool opted to do several loan deals last summer.

It wasn’t just promising youngsters moving on temporary spells away however - even though the likes of James McConnell and Lewis Koumas were among those to depart.

In the case of Harvey Elliott and Kostas Tsimikas it was decided to move them on in the eventual hope of selling them in summer 2026.

Elliott secured a loan at Aston Villa - with an obligation to buy should he feature in 10 Premier League matches. Right now it’s more likely that he returns to Liverpool however with Villa seemingly resistant to paying £35m for the 22-year-old.

Tsimikas having a nightmare loan spell

And Tsimikas is having a tough time of it too- with the 29-year-old not in the plans of Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The Greek moved to the Italian capital with high hopes of impressing and perhaps securing a permanent move at the end of the season.

There is no permanent clause attached to the deal however and the left-back will only have a year on his Liverpool deal when he comes back next summer.

But according to Italian transfer reporter Nico Schira he could be coming back to base even sooner than that.

Tsimikas now tipped to leave Roma

“Evan Ferguson, Leon Bailey and Kostas Tsimikas are not in Gian Piero Gasperini’s Plans and they could already leave ASRoma in January’s transfer window.” a report reads on X.

This of course will have major repercussions for Liverpool. The club failed to secure a purchase clause in the original loan deal - and not many suitors are going to be willing to pay top dollar for a 30-year-old reserve left-back with only 12 months on his contract.

Tsimikas' Roma days are numbered

The Premier League champions may end up taking a sizeable hit on Tsimikas next summer - even if he manages to get fixed up with another loan deal in January.

There is no chance of him playing for Liverpool this season - with Milos Kerkez and Andy Robertson both ahead of him in the queue at left-back.

But his Roma days look numbered with Gasperini preferring to use right-backs or right-sided wing-backs on the left rather than calling up Tsimikas.
