“What Chelsea needs” – Former Chelsea captain recommends new signing to the club

One former Chelsea player has recommended a new signing to the club and says he would be exactly what Chelsea needs right now.

There will be many who agree with this but also, I’m sure that some will not agree either right now, and that is due to the form of one current Blue.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea hold fresh conversations with agents of defender they’re trying to sign!

In the summer, Chelsea were trying to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan but in the end didn’t get it done for whatever reason. Chelsea fans at the time were really disappointed that the club didn’t get the deal over the line, because it would be a top player with leadership and experience added into the squad, two things it lacks.

Chelsea could still make a move for Maignan because as things stand, he will be a free agent come the summer if he does not sign a new contract with Milan.

And former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf, says Chelsea need to sign Maignan despite the rise in form of current number one stopper, Robert Sanchez.

Speaking about the Rossoneri star to the Italian Football Podcast, Leboeuf made no secret of his admiration for Maignan’s qualities, describing him as “world-class” and a natural leader. “Of course, Magic Mike, I don’t want to steal him from Milan, but the guy is world-class,” he said. “He is so talented. I saw him playing in France and I’ve followed him in Italy.”

Leboeuf highlighted Maignan’s athleticism and presence, adding: “He is a pure talent. He is a cat, I call him a cat, he can jump and catch the ball like crazy. And he is a leader. He is what Chelsea needs.”

Maignan should replace Sanchez

While praising Sanchez, Leboeuf argued that Maignan would still represent a clear upgrade. “Robert Sánchez is doing great right now but has made so many mistakes. He is not as talented with his feet as Mike. Maignan would be a plus, definitely a plus.”
