Liverpool have been looking at Antoine Semenyo for a couple of months, and the injury to Alexander Isak has weakened their attacking ranks.
The Swede was injured against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, and an injury analyst now expects Isak to be out for 2-3 months.

It leaves Hugo Ekitike as the only natural centre-forward option on their books right now, and a lack of depth in Arne Slot’s frontline while Mohamed Salah is away.
A potential solution could have been to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth in early January before his release clause expires after the first 10 days of the year.
But it doesn’t appear as though Liverpool are the favourites to get a deal over the line.
Antoine Semenyo’s preference is Manchester City
Ben Jacobs has shared an update via X/Twitter explaining the winger’s release clause and stating that Semenyo will make a decision on his future soon.
He wrote: “Antoine Semenyo’s January release clause could be worth £65m to Bournemouth if all add-ons met, but slightly less to suitors. Similar to Alexander Isak’s transfer, the overall number includes solidarity.

He wrote: “Manchester City and Bournemouth will be in direct contact this week for Antoine Semenyo. £65m release clause available until Jan 10 but MCFC will approach AFCB to discuss potential different deal structure and payment terms. Semenyo’s preference is Man City.”

Which other attackers are Liverpool looking at ahead of January
While a potential move for Semenyo does not seem that likely at present, Liverpool have other attacking options in mind.
The Reds are ready to battle Bayern Munich for Franculino Dju, who has 21 goals for FC Midtjylland this season.
Elsewhere, it’s thought that Liverpool are monitoring Igor Thiago and see him as a ‘stylistic fit’.
Thiago has 11 Premier League goals to his name this term, with Erling Haaland (19) the only player to find the back of the net on more occasions in the English top flight.
