Rory Jennings likes to laugh at West Ham as a Chelsea fan, but has pointed towards David Sullivan and Co. for poor “mismanagement” of the Hammers.

West Ham are trying to stay in the Premier League, with the Irons sitting 18th in the table, five points adrift of safety heading into the festive period.

Sullivan has been slammed in the past for his handling of the Hammers, with Karren Brady also receiving her fair share of criticism.

Now, Nuno Espirito Santo is struggling to deliver results at E20, and many have argued that the head coach is helpless to do anything about the players at his disposal.

Rory Jennings aims West Ham’s troubles at hierarchy

There have been protests at the London Stadium this season, directed towards Sullivan and Brady, with the pair now under more pressure than ever.

The January transfer window is around the corner, and if Nuno isn’t backed with new signings from the board, West Ham could be a Championship club this time next year.

While speaking on talkSPORT, Jennings admitted his sympathy towards West Ham fans and outlined why Sullivan and Co. are to blame for this season’s failings.

Jennings said: “The reason that the players aren’t very good is that the ownership has done that fanbase a massive mis-shift. I feel sorry for their fans.

“Look, I’m a Chelsea fan, so I can find an element of humour and delight in any issue they face. But, as much as they are a rival of Chelsea, they are a good club with a great identity and brilliant history.

“So the way they’ve been mismanaged has been a disgrace.”

Jennings highlights an interesting point about the players, which is now more important than ever.

January is make-or-break for West Ham’s recruitment team

Niclas Fullkrug looks certain to be leaving West Ham, and an official announcement could be made on the striker’s E20 exit in the coming days.

A lack of goals has been a worry for the Hammers this year, but the German’s departure leaves the door open for West Ham to sign an attacking replacement.

There have been plenty of names mentioned, but the bottom line is that whoever joins needs to be good enough to keep the Irons in the Premier League.

Nuno’s midfield is a strong area, and the Hammers’ recruitment team needs to be bang on in targeting areas that actually need improving.

West Ham cannot afford another wasteful transfer window, as the time is now or never to bring in capable reinforcements for Nuno.
