Wolves’ latest injury news as we approach the final Premier League fixtures of 2025
Wolves will be hoping for a brighter 2026 after a tough past year in 2025. They are rock bottom of the Premier League table and are staring down the barrel of relegation to the Championship. The Midlands outfit are yet to win this season and are 16 points from safety behind Nottingham Forest in 17th.
Rob Edwards was appointed as their replacement for Vitor Pereira in November and left Middlesbrough in the process. His side were beaten 2-0 at home by Brentford last time out and face Liverpool away up next. In the meantime, here is their latest injury news and return dates:
When will Wolves defender Toti Gomes be back from injury?
Wolves defender Toti Gomes is sidelined with a thigh injury and isn’t expected back until late January. As a result, they will have to make do without him at the back for the time being. Edwards shared this update regarding his condition on Monday ahead of their tricky test against Liverpool: “Toti is a no. He's out for a significant period of time with his hamstrings. So, it'll be weeks.”
Winger Rodrigo Gomes is in the treatment room until early 2026 as well. He is poised to return in late January, potentially early February, which isn’t ideal. The attacker has surgery last month and is now on the road to recovery. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Agbadou is at AFCON with Ivory Coast and will be back next month.
Midfielder Jean Ricner-Bellegarde, who has been linked with an exit to Besiktas ahead of the upcoming transfer window, is out of action with a thigh issue. To make matters worse, he has been ill recently and hasn’t been at the training ground. Edwards has said: “JJ has also had a bit of illness, so we've not seen him much this week. We've been keeping him away, so he doesn't pass anything on to anyone else. [He's] out for weeks, which is a real shame.”
Wolves injury updates regarding Marshall Munetsi and Hugo Bueno
Wolves’ versatile midfielder Marshall Munetsi is unavailable for the next few weeks as well. Like Bellegarde, his long-term future is up in the air and he is said to be of interest to some unnamed French teams. He needs to get back to full fitness first and foremost though.
Munetsi is missing AFCON and has said: "I had an injury recently, but my club, Wolves, communicated with the association that I was recovering well and even offered medical support to ensure that I could participate at the AFCON. Unfortunately, I received no follow-up communication, and decisions were made without clarity-speculation which wasn't the case.”
Left-back Hugo Bueno will need to be assessed over the next couple of days. He trained on Monday and should be fit to feature at Liverpool which would be a boost. The wing-back has enjoyed more minutes at Molineux this term and will be eager to nail down a regular place in their starting XI over the coming months.
Back-up goalkeeper Daniel Bentley has been ruled out of late with a foot injury and his exact return date is unknown at this stage. Wolves have other options between the sticks like Sam Johnstone and Jose Sa. Elsewhere, Leon Chiwome has been out with a long-term ACL injury and it remains to be seen when he will play again.
