Thierno Barry breaks his silence with perfect Everton vs Arsenal penalty response

Everton will now be looking to put Saturday’s loss behind them, but Thierno Barry has now weighed in on that penalty decision.

Frustrations were there for all to see on Saturday when Everton were denied what seemed a clear penalty on Barry.

Even the Arsenal legend Ian Wright thought Everton should have had a penalty after William Saliba kicked his fellow Frenchman.

David Moyes has seen a lot go against Everton this season in the Premier League, but this was certainly one that could well have cost the Blues a point.

Speaking to Everton News, Mark Clattenburg shared his Everton penalty verdict, as he suggested it would have been given by UEFA referees.

With the decision still a hot topic in the Premier League, Barry has now broken his silence on the situation.

What Thierno Barry said about Everton vs Arsenal penalty decision

After the game, Moyes was furious with the referee over the penalty incident and that even carried over into Tuesday’s press conference.

A lack of consistency is on display with the current rotation of Premier League referees.

The same penalty has been given in a number of different circumstances and Barry made his thoughts known on social media.

Taking to his Instagram account, Barry responded to a fan question asking ‘how wasn’t that a penalty?’

Although he did not reply with any words, the Frenchman used the Jose Mourinho meme from the interview where he famously said: “If I speak, I am in big trouble.”

It is the perfect response from the Everton striker who has made his views very clear and avoided any potential action for speaking out against the officials.

Ironically, Jamie Carragher sympathised with Everton over the penalty decision as he saw an almost-identical one given 48 hours later during Fulham vs Nottingham Forest.

You almost can’t write it, but this is just how football goes sometimes and Everton have found themselves on the wrong end of it again.

David Moyes fumes over Fulham penalty decision vs Nottingham Forest

During his press conference on Tuesday, the 62-year-old was asked for his thoughts on the penalty awarded at Craven Cottage on Monday evening.

Why is it always Everton?

It's almost unbelievable this happened just 48 hours later! 😡

“I was actually half choking last night when I saw the decision given and ours wasn’t.

“It feels like certain clubs seem to get those decisions and other clubs don’t – we seem to be on the latter side of that.”

Things have not been made any better for Everton as they head into their game against Burnley this weekend.

The Premier League have appointed Craig Pawson to referee Burnley vs Everton at Turf Moor.

Pawson has a notoriously poor record against the Toffees, with Everton already experiencing some of his poor decision-making this season.

Everton have won just one of their last 13 games across all competitions with Pawson as the referee.
