Arsenal have completed the appointment of Maurizio Micheli as their new technical and scouting director.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb. They report that the deal for the Italian has been completed, despite not being announced by the club.
In fact, according to their information, Micheli arrived at Arsenal in the last few days. He has already started working at the Emirates ahead of the January transfer window.
The website reports that Arsenal are becoming ‘increasingly more Italian made’, with Andrea Berta’s arrival last summer as sporting director now followed by Micheli’s arrival this month.
He’s left Napoli, where he had worked for many years making key signings as the head of scouting and working closely with various sporting directors.
His move to Arsenal was first reported back in November and seen as a real bolt out of the blue. Indeed, it was claimed his departure was a real blow for Napoli. That was then followed by an explanation that it was the final bureaucratic steps holding up the announcement.
That’s yet to come but TMW say the move to Arsenal is done. According to them, Micheli is already in place as the Gunners new technical and scouting director. What influence he has on January, remains to be seen.
