FC Barcelona ended their 2025 with a 2-0 victory over Villarreal away at Estadio de La Ceramica, maintaining their advantage at the top of the La Liga table.
It meant that the Blaugrana have now racked up eight wins in a row in the league, four of which came in the month of December.
Given their excellent run of results in the league, it does not come as a surprise to see Barcelona being represented in the nominees for the La Liga awards for this month.
Indeed, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick finds himself in contention for the La Liga Coach of the Month award for December.
After all, the German tactician masterminded four victories in four games, starting with Atletico Madrid and then beating Real Betis and Osasuna, before ending the year with the win over Villarreal.
Flick minds himself up against Celta Vigo head coach Claudio Giraldez and RCD Espanyol manager Manolo Gonzalez for the prize.
Meanwhile, Barcelona teenage superstar Lamine Yamal is in the running to win the La Liga Player of the Month for December.
The 18-year-old wonderkid may have scored only two goals in the league in December, but was influential in each of the victories that the Blaugrana secured.
Lamine will battle with Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, Atletico Madrid veteran Koke, Celta Vigo’s Ionut Radu, and German Valera of Elche for the Player of the Month prize for December.
