Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that neither Harry Maguire nor Matthijs de Ligt will be fit to face Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Asked about the potential return of the two centre-backs in his pre-match press conference, Amorim replied:
“We are still working with them. They are not available for this one, but let’s see for the next one.”
Maguire has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the 2-2 draw against Tottenham before the last international break.
De Ligt, meanwhile, has not featured in the last four games due to a back problem he sustained after the win over Crystal Palace at the end of last month.
