Milwaukee Bucks linked to intriguing $54 million wing to help retain Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Milwaukee Bucks are 12-18 on the season following their 111-94 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. They also improved to 4-10 on the road as they are in the midst of a stretch that sees them play 12 of 16 games on the road. And while the Pacers are now just 6-24, the win was important for team morale as the Bucks had lost three games in row heading into the matchup.

Obviously, the 2025-26 NBA season has not gone the way that Milwaukee hoped. Not only has their star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, been at the center of trade rumors since before the year began, he is currently injured and unable to play. The calf strain that has ailed the two-time league MVP has given the Bucks a chance to see how well their roster was constructed around their star, and it has not been good.

As such, Milwaukee’s front office is looking to work out some trades that, instead of shipping Giannis out, will create a better overall team around him.

The Milwaukee Bucks reportedly are interested in Washington Wizards forward Corey Kispert

What is clear to anyone who has watched the Bucks is that they lack size both size and scoring in the front court. Oftentimes this season, AJ Green has been the starting small forward, though he has the size of a small shooting guard.

Kyle Kuzma, too, is used at small forward, and even though he has improved his play dramatically this season, does not have the consistent three-point jump shot the Bucks want around Giannis.

As such, there are several forwards around the league that have been linked to Milwaukee in trade rumors, one of which is Corey Kispert of the Washington Wizards, according to Brett Sigel ofClutch Points:

“The Washington Wizards are rebuilding, and they appear to be open to receiving calls about any of their players outside of their recent first-round picks. Kispert is an interesting name who could help a lot of contending teams when healthy, and he finds himself in the first year of a team-friendly four-year, $54 million contract.”

In 18 games this season, Kispert is averaging 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game off the bench while shooting 47/38/74 from the floor.

As noted, he is in the first year of a four-year $54 million contract, that would be an appealing add for the Bucks who are always trying to find affordable talent.

His best season was the 2023-24 year in which he played in 80 games (22 starts) and averaged 13.4 points. For his career, he has averages of 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists with shooting splits of 47/38/80.

It is unclear what Milwaukee would have to give up to get Kispert, though they have been reportedly shopping both Kuzma and Bobby Portis. Either one of those players might get traded ahead of the deadline, though the Bucks would likely prefer to hang on to Portis, who has the fourth-best three-point shooting percentage in the league this season.
