Arne Slot could give ‘special’ Liverpool star his Premier League debut vs Wolves - opinion

Liverpool’s game against Wolves might be their last of 2025, but it could see a few firsts.

The Reds have seen their form pick up in recent weeks after going unbeaten in their last six matches, a run they will be hoping to take with them into the new year.

They face bottom of the league Wolves at Anfield next, a game in which everyone expects them to win with relative ease.

However, injuries have certainly piled up, meaning Arne Slot might have to rotate his side, and he might just give a Premier League debut to one star in particular.

Calvin Ramsay could make his Premier League debut for Liverpool vs Wolves

Liverpool have had a bit of an issue at right-back this season, with it still being unclear who is their first-choice option in this department.

Conor Bradley appears to be the favourite, but he has picked up yet another injury, joining another player who could play there, Joe Gomez, on the sidelines.

This would normally leave Dominik Szoboszlai as another option, but he is suspended after an accumulation of yellow cards, leaving just Jeremie Frimpong.

However, Slot has shown that he prefers the Dutchman at right wing instead, as shown against Tottenham, meaning he could hand a league debut to Calvin Ramsay.

The Scotsman has been at Liverpool for three years now but has not made an appearance in the league due to competition and injuries, although he has played in the cup.

He did fairly well too and at 22, he might be ready for a chance in the Premier League, especially against someone like Wolves.

This would enable Slot to play Frimpong further forward if he chooses to as well, meaning it might just help the balance down the right flank.

When Ramsay was signed back in 2022, he was described as ‘special’ and was expected to go on to big things.

However, injuries have halted his progress, with this meaning he has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield.

But now, after impressing against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, he might get another chance in the first-team, with this one he really needs to take.

If he shines again, he could be in with a chance of playing more often, but if not, it really could be time for him to move on.
